Charles McClanahan II (Charlie Oliver), 79, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Friday, September 25, 2026 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of the late Aaron Charles and Lilly May (Collins) McClanahan I, he was born January 19, 1947 in Kirksville, Missouri. In addition to his parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret (McClanahan) Quint; his brother, Mike McClanahan; his father-in-law, James M. Day; his mother-in-law, Arvilla E. Day; his brothers-in-law, Vernon Day, and Leon Johnson; as well as his nephews, Randy Johnson, Rick Johnson, John Johnson, and Danny Joe Johnson.

On April 13, 1968 in Kirksville, Missouri, Charlie married Elizabeth Ann Day. They were married fifty-eight years and to this union two sons were born.

Charles is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann (Day) McClanahan of the Home in Kirksville MO; his sons Aaron Charles McClanahan III and Wife (Jackie Anderson McClanahan) of Andover MN. Dennis Wayne McClanahan loving partner (Sheila Walters) of Kirksville MO Grandchildren Kyle McClanahan, Karon McClanahan, Keith McClanahan, Brandon Anderson (Rachel) Ashton Russell (Drew), Dalton McClanahan (Natalie) Denys McClanahan, Melody Walters. His great Grandchildren Jakson Jessop, London Jessop. Little Charlie McClanahan, Gracie McClanahan, Lane Russell, Wrenlee Russell, Madilyn McClanahan, Dawson Rogers; his sister Colleen Johnson of Hallsville MO, Clyde McClanahan of Columbia MO, Lisa Jones (Mike) of Lavonia MO, Barbra Smith (James) of Tallahassee, FL, Alice Colleen from Texas, brother-in-law Harold Quint of Kirksville MO, and sister-in-law Jeanie McClanahan of Hurdland MO.

Charlie worked on tractors with his dad until 1973 when he went to work for the Special Road District as a grater operator, later at McGraw Edison, and last he and Elizabeth opened Charlie Oliver Toys.

Charles had a heart of gold, he knew no stranger when he wasn’t working on tractors, he enjoyed trout fishing as a matter of fact him and Elizabeth went trout fishing on their honeymoon. He loved coon hunting, deer hunting and telling stories. Deer camp held a special place in his heart where some of his favorite times were spent surrounded by family and friends. He really loved the poker games or at least most of them. His grandsons Keith and Dalton knew how to get a rise out of
grandpa by calling his favorite game to complain about “Pass the Trash”. Those games, stories, laughter and time spent together created memories his family will carry with them forever.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, with a funeral service to follow. Tim Scott will officiate the service and interment will follow the service at Refuge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis McClanahan, Aaron McClanahan, Dalton McClanahan, Keith McClanahan, Mark Johnson, and Kyle McClanahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Russell, Riley Johnson, Timmy Eddy, Rick Greenstreet, and Lee King.
