Mary Elizabeth (Snider) Farwell, 78, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the University Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Born December 15, 1947 in Cassville, Missouri, Mary was the daughter of the late Chester and Edith "Betty" Snider. On August 9, 1972 in Jenkins, Missouri, Mary was united in marriage to Tommy Rex Farwell who preceded her in death on October 17, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Owen Brimmer.

Mary is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew (Allison) Farwell of Kirksville, MO, and Matthew (Kristin) Farwell of Green Castle, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Annie (Brad) Brimmer of Ortonville, MI; one brother, Chester "Buzz" Snider; one sister, Susan Goodsell; eleven grandchildren, Jackson, Lauren, Ellie, Ashlyn, Lincoln, Luke, Miles, Bennett, Savannah, Ainsley, and Joseph; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary was raised in Jenkins, Missouri, and graduated from Cassville High School. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Mary began her dedicated teaching career at her alma mater, Cassville High School, and later taught at the college level at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri. Upon the birth of her children, Mary transitioned to life as a devoted stay-at-home mother and cattle rancher, working alongside her husband.

Mary enjoyed playing sports, coaching, and staying active. Deeply involved in her community, Mary was a member of various clubs and charitable organizations, and she always cherished the simple joy of spending time with friends over a Diet Coke at McDonald's.

Mary was a dedicated grandmother, and her grandchildren's biggest fan at their various activities and sporting events. She enjoyed traveling across the U.S.A., Europe, Mexico and Israel, and spent time in Jamaica and Europe on mission trips. Mary was a three time cancer survivor and enjoyed speaking and sharing her testimony at many churches and Christian gatherings.

Mary’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She attended the First Assembly of God, Union Temple, and Fellowship Baptist churches. She remained steadfast in her faith and was known by many as a dedicated prayer warrior.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2026 at the First Assembly of God church in Kirksville with Pastor Shawn Meintz presiding. A private burial will follow with Pastor Brad Brimmer officiating.
