Sophie Jewell Hubbard

Sophie Jewell Hubbard

-

Surrounded by her loving family, Sophie Jewell Hubbard, daughter of Larry and Kami Hubbard went to Jesus in the early morning of June 22, 2026. Her strength and bravery this past year showed her faith and confidence in Jesus. This was reflected in her tattooed life verse, Romans 8:18, “The pain that you have been feeling cannot compare to the joy that is coming.”

Sophie made her home in Columbia, MO. She was a dedicated educator for five years at High Road School of Boone County. She was passionate about her students and their needs. She was planning to pursue a degree in Education and Psychology to better understand her students. Sophie also worked part time at Black and Gold Tavern in Columbia, MO. As her customers questioned her about her tattoo, she often found herself talking to them about Jesus.

Known by her smile, she lit up a room. Sophie’s love, laughter, and compassion would overflow to everyone. No one was to be left out. She also knew when to stand firm in who she was and what she believed, not to be overrun by others. She displayed this fiercely to her family, especially her nieces and nephews who she was always going to “eat your face” because each was so sweet and precious to her. She also had a passion for Cardinal baseball, Bears football, cruising with the music blasting, makeovers with her doing the make-up, and spending time with loved ones.

Sophie began her education at Adair County R-1 in preschool and graduated from Knox County R-1 in 2019. Sophie played softball and was active in Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). As a young girl, Sophie attended AWANA and First Batist Church in Kirksville, where she was baptized in 2010.

Sophie is survived by many loved ones beyond her parents Larry and Kami Hubbard. Sophie is survived by the love of her life, fiancé Kendal Boyd of Litchfield, IL. Sophie’s family tribe is big. She leaves behind by her brothers and sisters, Logan and Sarah Hubbard of Monmouth, IL; Landon Hubbard, Chloe Hubbard, and Rayna Simonton of Kirksville; Lottie Hubbard and Greg Schiff of LaPlata, MO; and Ace Hubbard of Edina, MO. Her “loves”, the nieces and nephews surviving Sophie are Chloe Kelly, River, Wiley, and Felix Hubbard; Creedence and Lennon Hubbard; Maverick and Ryatt Hubbard, Karson Mendenhall, and Kinley Hemmerling. Grandparents are Rhonda Tarr of Edina, MO and William and Amy Hubbard of Kirksville. Aunts and Uncles are Connie
(Bill) Charles, Karen McKim, Debbie (Tim) Eliason, Mark Hubbard and Cheyanne Heaton, and Kari (Brent) Kaylor.

A memorial service for Sophie will be Sunday, July 19 at the Pear Tree in Macon, MO at 2:00. A celebration of life will be held after the service.
Memorial gifts to cover expenses may be left at the Pear Tree or mailed to Kami Hubbard at 303 SW Morgan St. Edina, MO 63537.
