Jerry grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin, where he shared many memories with his five siblings. While in high school, he was involved in FFA and graduated in 1981. In 1984, Jerry became a father, welcoming his first born son, Jeremy. In 1990, he met Lisa while working at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield and the two were engaged three months later. Their one-year engagement included walks at a park, Bible studies, and planning for the future. Shortly after the wedding, he started working at Land-O-Lakes in Spencer, Wisconsin, where he spent twelve years. Their family grew in 1992, 1994, and 1998, welcoming Jordan, Cody, and Emily. They moved to Kirksville, Missouri in 2003, where Jerry spent the rest of his career as a security guard at the Walmart Distribution Center in Moberly, Missouri and worked as a realtor for Century 21.

Jerry was baptized into Christ in 1990 and his faith continued to grow as he regularly attended church in central Wisconsin. Jerry had a passion for helping others and often provided acts of service. This was evident in his role as a deacon for many years at the Kirksville Church of Christ, following the family's move to Missouri.

In 2015, Jerry and Lisa’s world changed when he was diagnosed with
Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. While this diagnosis brought uncertainty, the next decade highlighted the qualities that defined him throughout his life: unwavering faith, will to fight, and love for his family. Trusting in God’s plan, he spent the decade that followed embracing life’s precious moments. These moments included hearing his son preach, opening presents with his grandchildren, taking walks with his son, riding bikes with his wife, and walking his daughter down the aisle.

Jerry was a Wisconsin sports fan, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks. He enjoyed going on walks, spending time outdoors at his parents’ farm in Novinger, making dad jokes, and offering good advice. He was happy simply being in a room with his loved ones. This included going to church with his family, playing cards with his parents, and attending his children’s weddings. He wasn’t one to say a lot, but when he spoke, those around him wanted to listen as his words were thoughtful and impactful. His steadfast faith and strong desire to fight and live have left a lasting impression on
those he left behind.

A visitation in honor of Jerry will take place on June 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home, located at 1008 W. Potter Ave, Kirksville, Missouri 63501. He will be buried at the Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri, near the farm where he spent countless hours with loved ones.
