Madelin Carrol Hardman, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away on April 15, 2026. Born on February 25, 1939 in LaPlata, Missouri to Othia O. and Wilma M. Hiles. Madelin grew up on a farm until she was high school age and moved to Kansas City, Kansas with her family. She graduated high school from Argentine High School.
Madelin was united in marriage to Ralph D. Hardman in Kansas City, Kansas on February 8, 1967. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph, her son, Richard; brother, Otha Eugene (Gene) Hiles; three sisters, Shirley Hiles, Marjorie Alamilla, and Mary Jo Miller.
Madelin enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts. She also had an eye for design. She used to tell the story, her and her sister, Marge, would ride the bus to a department store in Kansas City, and try on clothes, and while she was in the dressing room she would sketch it on a piece of paper and go home and make it.
Madelin worked for various companies in clerical positions before finding a career at Unysis Corporation, where she worked for 12 1/2 years as an administrative assistant and retired in 1991.
Madelin was survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Bruce) Meyers Of Belton, Missouri; grandchildren, Damin Graham of Eugene, Oregon, Eric Stephenson of Kirksville, Missouri, Ashley Franklin (Denzil Clines) of Rogersville, Missouri, Megan Franklin (Xander Carrol) of Kansas City, Kansas and bonus grandchild, Erik Meyers (Britney Bates) of Florence, Alabama; four great grandchildren, Ethan, Ariya, Dakota, Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the LaPlata Cemetery in LaPlata, Missouri, with Pastor Ralph Wheeler presiding.
