Well known in Novinger Carol Sandstrom Hines passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 16, 2024 at her home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1942 the daughter of Charles and Hada Sandstrom of Novinger. In 1967 Carol was united in marriage to Clifford Hines. Two children were born Mike Hines & Sherry Darling.

Carol is survived by son Mike and Tina Hines of Brashear. Daughter Sherry Darling and husband Mike of Kirksville. Seven grandchildren, Cierra Kelly & husband Dusty. Lizzy, Ben, Jacob and wife Jostlin, Rachel, Sarah, and Leah Darling. Five Great Grandchildren Paisley, Hulon, Waylon, Grayson, and Stetson Kelly. One brother Mike (Butch) Sandstrom and wife Linda of Novinger. Nephew Ray Dean Sandstrom and wife Gayla of Novinger. Nephews David and Gary and wife Faye Hines. Nieces Rene, Teresa, and Debbie Garcia. Great Nephew Christopher Sandstrom.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Clifford of 51 years. Her parents Charles & Hada Sandstrom. Fern Richard’s sister-in-law. Eldon Hines a brother-in-law. Grandparents Anderson & Sarah Walker and Aunts & Uncles.

Carol was born and raised in Novinger. She graduated from Novinger High School with the class of 1961. She went to work at the Florsheim shoe factory and also worked at the Glove Factory & McGraws. When her children were small, she took off time and began babysitting. When her children started school, she went back to the Shoe factory as she was also room mother for several years. Served on the Novinger school board for 12 years. She was all about what she could do for her kids and the school. She served as church secretary & Sunday school teacher where she had a small puppet ministry. And also loved working in the nursery with the babies-3-year-olds at the Countryside Christian Church. The shoe factory closed their doors in 2000 where she worked for 21 years. Cliff and her started doing craft shows where they did 41 shows a year.

Carol loved spending time with her family & grandchildren. Going to Cierra's softball games. Bens band concerts. Lizzy's special olympics. Jake's bow shoots. Rachel's goat shows and basketball games. Sarah's horse shows. Leah's rabbit & horse shows. Paisley and Hulon's horse shows. She was very blessed.

It was Carol's wish to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Countryside Christian Church in Kirksville.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Carol may be made to the Countryside Christian Church and may be left at the church or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
