Billy Dee Bunch, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

The son of the late Earnest Lee and Mary Violet (Pryor) Bunch, he was born June 6, 1936 in Green Castle, Missouri. On January 5, 1957 in Kirksville, Missouri, Billy was united in marriage to Janet Harker who preceded him in death on January 31, 2019. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Gordy on May 6, 2020; one brother, Harold Lee Bunch; and one sister, Doris Jean (Bunch) Shaver.

Billy is survived by one daughter Dana Gordy and husband Vernon of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Bunch of Kirksville, MO; his son-in-law, Veldon Gordy of Kirksville, MO; one grandson Billy Gordy and wife Lacey of Kirksville, MO; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Lane, and Adalyn Gordy all of Kirksville, MO; one great-great grandson, Dawson McCartney of Kirksville, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Billy received his education in rural Adair County schools and Kirksville R-III public school. He was employed several years for Palace Bakery before going to work for Royal Crown Bottle Company. In 1971 Billy and his wife Janet began their own taxi cab company and until the time of his death continued his business D&D Cab Company. Billy never met a stranger and through out his years driving a cab made many friends. He was a great family man and will be sadly missed.

Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and listening to Old Rock & Roll music (his favorite song being I'm Going to Kansas City), and was also a big Elvis fan.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, with Pastor Larry Gibson officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday for one hour before the graveside service.
