Mary Louise (Butner) Stubbs, 85, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

Born December 26, 1937 in Columbia, Missouri, Mary was the daughter of Roy and Virginia Mae (Tiller) Butner. On November 10, 1979, in the Los Angeles Temple of Los Angeles, California, Mary was united in marriage to David Stubbs who preceded in death on April 8, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Derald Butner and sister-in-law Betty Butner.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Liz Wallace of Kirksville; two step-sons, Gene (Charlsie) Stubbs of Modesto, California, and Greg (Debby) Stubbs of Kent, Washington; one step-daughter, Davida Holden of Provo, Utah; two brothers, Larry (Eva) Butner of Macon, Missouri and Gerald (Kay) Butner) of Macon, Missouri; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary and Dave moved to Kirksville from San Diego, California, in 1993.

Mary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She was a past President of the Relief Society in Springfield, Missouri, and also in Poway, California. Mary and David were Temple workers in the Nauvoo Temple from 2002-2008. Mary enjoyed family history and genealogy.

Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kirksville with Bishop Paul Williams presiding. Interment will immediately follow in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
