Robert “Bob” Thomas Ashmore, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Born June 28, 1950 in Oroville, California, Bob was the son of the late Woodrow William and Arlene Marie "Phyllis" (Crockett) Ashmore. He was also preceded in death by one nephew, James Bice, and one brother-in-law, Bill Helmick. On April 8, 1980 in Columbia, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Theresa Murphy and to this union two children were born. On October 23, 2008 in Kirksville, Missouri, Bob married Carol Jean Davis.

Bob is survived by his wife Carol of the home; two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” (Tom) Cunningham of Ft. Worth, TX, and Stefanie Novinger of Columbia, MO; step-son, Josh Davis of Macon, MO; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jeanette Helmick of Harrisonburg, VA, Kathleen and Joe Limbaugh of Mendenhall, MS, Pamela and Steven Hamilton of Yankton, SD, and Lisa and Rodger Hall of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren, Shelby Novinger, Sadie Snelling, Austin Snelling, Shayne Meeker, Kathryn “Kate” (Andrew Murgia) Cunningham, and Sean Cunningham; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a graduate from American Legion High School in Sacramento, California with the Class of 1969. He moved to Kirksville, Missouri from Columbia, Missouri in 1980 to make his home. He worked at Sugar Creek Nursery prior to working for Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in 1983. Bob was a landscape artist and took pride in his ability to paint all the athletics fields at Truman State University until his retirement in 2008.

Bob enjoyed working with his hands by building and gardening. He was a NASCAR and Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle aficionado. He enjoyed scuba diving at Table Rock Lake. He also owned and had a great love for different breeds of large dogs and tolerated his eldest daughter's orange female cat that she snuck home. Bob will be remembered for being a strong-willed man with a great sense of humor, and will be missed.

Bob was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Rodgerson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from noon to service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Josh Davis, Sam Stewart, Michael Deal, Austin Snelling, Claude DeVolld, and Ted Deininger. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Epperson and Mike Davidson.

Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to his daughter, Rebecca Cunningham for the further education of his grandchildren, and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
