Marcia Kaye King, 73, of Bettendorf passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Services will be Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 1 pm at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 am until 1 pm at Travis-Noe Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or to your local hospice. Marcia was born in Kirksville, Missouri on July 28, 1949. She was the daughter of Howard Paul “Jack” and Dorothy Pauline (Scurlock) Shelton. She graduated from NE Missouri State (Truman State University) with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching.

She married James King on January 23, 1971 in Kirksville, MO. She taught French and Spanish in Kirksville for several years before moving to the Quad City area. Once in Bettendorf, she chose to raise her family and was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She belonged to the Davenport Osteopathic Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Davenport Evening Optimist Club where she achieved Honor Club President. In her free time, she loved watching British mysteries and multiple game shows, with Jeopardy being her favorite (going back to the Art Fleming days).

She collected nice things to look at including books, purses and pictures of chickens and horses among other memorabilia.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Dr. James King, son, Andrew (Kay) King, Davenport, grandson, Gannon and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, brother Gary and sister Roseann Livingston.
