Gary Lee Mayfield, 72, of Worthington, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his home.

The son of the late Raymond Howard and Margretta Elsa (Ziegler) Mayfield, he was born June 7, 1950 in Bell County, Texas. On October 6, 1977 in Morris, Illinois, Gary was united in marriage to Patsy Ann Walker.

Gary is survived by his wife Patsy of forty-four years; four sons, Raymond Mayfield of Green City, MO, Scott (Jhoyce) Mayfield of Olympia, Washington, Tad Mayfield of Omaha, NE, and Gary Mayfield Jr. of Joliet, IL; two daughters, April (Joshua) White of Lancaster, MO, and Cindy Mayfield of Rockdale, IL; two brothers, Randy Mayfield of Brashear, MO, and Sonny Mayfield of Braldwood, IL; eleven grandchildren, Jacob Mayfield, Madison Mayfield, Jeremy Mayfield, Brooklynn Mayfield, Janine Mayfield, Kylie Mayfield, Marissa Mayfield, Starr Bass, Aidan Sellers, Bella Sellers, and Tyler Mayfield; four great-grandchildren, Noah Robbins, River Yardley, September Yardley, and Serenity Yardley, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gary graduated from high school in Joliet, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam Confiict. In 1992 he moved to Worthington where he has resided for the past thirty years. He was last employed for PSF in Milan, Missouri.

Gary enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, playing cards, and following the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also a member of the NRA.

It was Gary's wish to be cremated and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
