Edward Eugene Sullivan, 80, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Born July 18, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri, Edward was the son of the late Edward Julian and Laura Mae (Snow) Sullivan. On November 23, 1962 in Kirksville, Missouri, Edward was united in marriage to Beatrice "Kay" Wood who preceded him in death in 1983. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Keith Sullivan, and one sister, Carol Newcomb.

Gene is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gail and Laurie Sullivan of Quincy, IL, and David and Melissa Sullivan of Buhler, KS; three sisters, Anna Mae Starr of Kirksville, MO, Judy Sullivan of Novinger, MO, and a sister Joyce; four grandchildren, Kyler and Lucas Ridgeway, and Grant and Alexa Sullivan, as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Gene was a life-long resident of Adair County and a graduate of Kirksville High School. He owned and operated his own gas station and mechanic shop for a number of years before going to work for George Smith Standard Oil Company. Gene last drove a school bus for Adair Co. R-I School in Novinger.

Gene enjoyed collecting coins and was a good mechanic.

It was Gene's wish to be cremated and his family will receive friends during a public visitation on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
