Wanda Jeannine (Filkins) Riley, 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.

Born January 11, 1930 in Kirksville, Missouri, Wanda was the daughter of the late John Olan and Mary Henrietta (Craig) Filkins. On December 31, 1955 in rural Kirksville, Missouri, Wanda was united in marriage to Irvin "Brice" Riley who preceded her in death on December 10, 1991.

Wanda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and Howard Sherman of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Leah Vandiver and husband Jordan of Kirksville, MO, and Brice Sherman and wife Cecilia of Quincy, IL, as well as one great-grandchild, Joel David Vandiver of Kirksville, MO.

Wanda was a graduate from Greentop High School with the Class of 1947 and attended Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College where she studied Business and also worked in the Registrars office. Wanda worked for the Regional Planning Commission several years and was a farmer's wife most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, canning, raising chickens, and cooking. Wanda loved her family and was a very devoted caregiver to them throughout the years.

Wanda was proud to be a twenty-two gallon blood donor for the Red Cross, was Secretary of the Hazel Creek Cemetery Association, and was a devoted member of Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Church where she was active with the Women's Auxiliary, and played Piano for Sunday services.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville with Pastor Rick Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Brice Sherman, Jordan Vandiver, Jami Sevits, Matt Chrisman, Doug Hamilton, and David Sevits. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Sevits, Bradley Chrisman, Bill Sevits, Darrell Hamilton, Harley Maize, and Howard Sherman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Wanda may be made to Hazel Creek Cemetery Association or to Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
