Arthur Wayne "Art" Buchanan, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Art was born February 12, 1939 in Greentop, Missouri, the late son of Henry Dolph and Edith Pearl (Riley) Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James O. Buchanan. On July 19, 1958 in Kirksville, MIssouri, Art was united in marriage to Jacetta Adams.

Art is survived by his wife Jacetta of sixty-three years; one daughter and son-in-law, Tamera J. and Matt Greiner of Bloomfield, IA; two grandchildren, Hayley (Ryan) Heemsbergen and Heath (Shea) Greiner all of Bloomfield, IA; three great-grandchildren, Kaison, Kael and Kamden Heemsbergen all of Bloomfield, IA; brother-in-law, Alvin (Carol) Adams of Kirksville, MO; sister-in-law, Pearl Buchanan of Oswego, IL; several nieces and nephews, as well as his family of the heart, Complete Family Medicine.

Art received his education at the Pleasant Grove Grade School and was a graduate from Greentop High School with the Class of 1955. He then graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College until 1959. Art was employed for the Department of Mental Health as Plant Maintenance Engineer, then as Assistant Administrator of the Regional Center for Developmentally Disabled until retiring after twenty-seven years.

Art loved collecting and restoring guns and preserving family history. He was a board member of Fugate Cemetery.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Dennis Goodman officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday the 28th one hour before service time. Interment will follow the service at Fugate Cemetery in Greentop, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Heath Greiner, Ryan Heemsbergen, Jeff Riley, Matt Greiner, Kaison Heemsbergen, and Jimmy Buchanan.
