Teddy C. Wait, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at his home.

Born June 26, 1935, in LaPlata, Missouri, Teddy was the son of the late Claude Olen and Orva Belle (Burnett) Wait. On July 12, 1955, in Lancaster, Missouri, Teddy was united in marriage to Joyce Harris.

Teddy is survived by his wife Joyce of sixty-seven years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Lynn and Jack Falls of LaPlata, Missouri, and Kathleen and Dennis Jones of LaPlata, Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy B. Zimmerman of Keokuk, Iowa, and Betty Seidt of LaPlata, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dirk Jones and Susana Bates of Chicago, Illinois, Drew (Amy) Jones of Overland Park, Kansas, and Erica (Aaron) Baker of Atlanta, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Liam and Harper Jones both of Overland Park, Kansas, and Bella, Brody, Brynlee, and Bright Baker all of Atlanta, Missouri, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Faye Gehle.

Teddy received his education at the Illinois Bend and Kirksville public schools. He was a lifelong farmer in Adair County. Teddy raised grain and cattle, enjoyed deer hunting, watching old western movies, visiting Civil War sites, and reading about WWII history. Most of all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Teddy was baptized in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. He attended the First Baptist Church in Kirksville at the time of his death.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Aaron Baker will officiate the service and Interment will follow at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Teddy may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
