James Clifton West

-

James Clifton West, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Kirksville Manor Care Center.

James was born August 28, 1937 in Covina, California to Hubert Clifton and Viola M (Blick)West. He was united in marriage to Donna Jean Pearson on May 4, 1960 in South Gate, California.

James was an organizational supply specialist in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Over the course of 40 years he worked as a journeyman meat cutter, printing press operator, owning his own print shop for a time, and apartment complex manager in various places in California and Iowa. James enjoyed cooking, collecting coins, and after retirement he liked to crochet. He made many throws, scarves and pillow covers. Most of what he made, he gave away to friends and family. He had a funny sense of humor that made others laugh. He was a member of the Peanut Butter Lovers Club and even carried a membership card in his wallet.

James is survived by his wife Donna of 61 years, one daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Dan Dohman of Kirksville, one daughter-in-law Lina West of Clebourne, Texas, five grandchildren, Kain (Karin)West, Kaitlyn West, Katie (John) Huffman, Annalee (Stephen) Huffman, and Jamie Dohman. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Charles Patrick West in 1964, and son Robert Clifton West, who passed away in 2019 at 51 years old, two sisters, Bonnie Fritz and Sharon Llewelyn and one brother Tom West.

James loved the Lord and spent his life serving Him. In passing, he wanted us to celebrate his life. 1Th 4:13-14 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

A graveside service will be held at the Ainsworth, Iowa cemetery at a later date and arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
