Shirley Beverly (Peavler) Roan, 85, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Shirley was born February 5, 1936 the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet (Coram) Peavler. On February 4, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Shirley was united in marriage to Dick Roan who preceded her in death on September 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ritchie Roan; one brother, Kenny Peavler, and two sisters-in-law, Jeannie (Dean) Davis and Brenda Peavler.

Shirley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Marla Roan of Novinger, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Marty Martin of Novinger, MO; daughter-in-law, Wanda Roan of Novinger, MO; two brothers, Dub Peavler and Mike (Debbie) Peavler all of Green Castle, MO; ten grandchildren, Crescent (Eric) Smith, Dallas (Danielle) Roan, Caschelle Smith, Dustin (Meagan) Roan, Chasiti (Jesse) Peavler, Chelsea (Tyler) Halley, Kody (Lindey) Lindquist, KaCei (Travis) Gunnels, Kolten (Trisha) Roan, and Kean (Mandy) Roan; twenty great-grandchildren, Nikiah, Beau, Keaton, Amelia, Sofia, Ollie, Miley, Dickson, Prestyn, Paelyn, Anna, Bailyn, Coleman, Kasen, Kye, Kimber, Kella, Kalvin, Braxten, Kooper, as well as a great great-grandchildren due in April. She is also survived by her special friend, Karen Bernard who was always a willing copilot.

All of her grandchildren had taken a bath in a cooler during the Labor Day family get togethers. She also was grandma to the kids she hauled on the Novinger School Bus for thirty-four years. Shirley was also a cook at the school and she was the best hired hand her husband Dick ever had. In her later years the great grand kids thought she was the Best Burnout Queen ever and all they had to do was ask. Shirley always took her grand kids out to look at Christmas lights, and there was always an adventure to be had on that night.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of Diet Coke and cheese biscuits from McDonalds and for never meeting a stranger.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville with Pastor Sheila Swafford officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 10, 2022 from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Scottie Roan, Marty Martin, Dallas Roan, Dustin Roan, Kody Lindquist, Kolten Roan and Kean Roan. Honorary pallbearers will be Crescent Smith, Caschelle Roan, Chasiti Peavler, Chelsea Halley, and KaCei Gunnels.

Memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to her daughter, Sandra Martin and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
