Mary Agnes (Eggert) Stanley, 86, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the LaPlata Nursing Home.

Born September 8, 1935 in Madrid, Nebraska, Mary was the daughter of the late Wallace James and Agnes Aileen (Hegarty) Eggert. In 1968 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mary was united in marriage to Virgil Stanley who preceded her in death on April 15, 2012. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Eggert, and one sister, Peggy Eggert.

Mary is survived by one sister, Barbara Prouty of Ashland, NE, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from Madrid High School in Madrid, Nebraska, received a teachers certificate in McCook, NE, and received a Bachelors degree in education in Colorado. After retiring from teaching in Colorado Springs, CO, Mary moved to Kirksville and worked as a substitute teacher in the Kirksville public schools for twenty-five years.

Mary was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Monsignor Marion Makarewicz presiding. Family will receive friends for one hour before the service. Interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger.
