Larry David Curtis, 72, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Born August 22, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, Larry was the son of the late David Eldon and Euthetta Jean (Minic) Curtis.

On September 8, 1972 in Kirksville, Missouri, Larry was united in marriage to Jolene Lawson.

Larry is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, two daughters, a son-in-law, and three grandchildren. One of Larry’s daughters, his son in law, and two grandchildren live in Kirksville, MO: Tammy and Chris Scearce and their two sons Connor and Paden Scearce. Larry’s other daughter and grandson live in O'Fallon, MO: Lisa Wineman and her son Matthew Wineman. Additionally, Larry was survived by two nephews, Mike and Danny Curtis, and one niece, Stephanie Bauer. Larry was closest to his nephew Mike Curtis, for years they visited, ate dinner, and watched television together every week.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Steve Curtis, and one sister, Karen Curtis.

Larry was a graduate from Kirksville High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He also proudly served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army. Then after 27 years Larry retired from Truman State University. After retiring Larry worked for Bucks Towing Service.

Besides his grandsons, Larry loved not only going to stock car races and truck pulls but working on race cars and pulling trucks with his friends. Larry also enjoyed farming.

Larry has been cremated and a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating. Family will receive friends for one hour before the memorial service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Private burial will take place at a later date at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
