Surviving are his loving wife, Martha, daughter, Julie Sykes and husband Kevin of LaPlata, MO, grandchildren, Chloe and James Mayhew, Sidney and Tanner Smith, Zane Sykes, and one great-grandson, JT Mayhew. Mike attended Bethel Community Church for nearly sixty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who appreciated nature. He was a true outdoorsman who loved spending Sunday afternoons walking the creeks of his property searching for arrowheads. He loved caring for his cattle herd and found joy in making a deal to trade for a new pick-up. Mike took pride in his work which included many local buildings such as the Gutensohn Clinic, the Kirksville MFA grain elevator and many of the buildings and memorials at Truman State University to name a few. Mike loved playing poker with his family while listening to Country Gold. He loved his family and grandchildren immensely and will be greatly missed. "I can jump as high, I just can't stay up as Long".

A Private family graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri, under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mike may be made to Bethel Community Church and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
