Margaret Theresa (Higgins) Snell, 96, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Born February 22, 1923 in Adair, Missouri, Margaret was the daughter of the late George Vincent and Catherine (Ludden) Higgins. On July 5, 1947 in Adair, Missouri, Margaret was united in marriage to Augustine Snell who preceded her in death on July 2, 1998 after fifty years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Hatfield and Annabel Stober.

Margaret is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rayburn and Janina Snell of Kirksville, MO; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George W. and Carolyn Higgins of Greentop, MO, Harry and Doris Higgins of Keokuk, IA, and John Higgins of Greentop, MO; two grandchildren, Megan Pollard and husband Justin of Macon, MO, and Martin and Kristyn Snell of Centralia, MO; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Rhett Pollard of Macon, MO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1942. She was employed several years at Lamberts Glove Factory before beginning her own baby sitting business. After a number of years baby sitting, Margaret went to work at Hollisters, Inc. until retiring in 1988. After retiring, she returned to baby sitting that she loved so dearly.

Margaret was an avid bowler in her younger years and loved following her husband's band (Rhythm Airs & The Toppers) for thirty years. Margaret loved camping, cooking, hand quilting, collecting dolls, country music, and dancing at the V.F.W.

Margaret was a sixty-five and oldest Charter member of the Women of the Moose of Kirksville and was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with a Ritual conducted by Women of the Moose.

Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Deacon Dave Ream presiding. Interment will follow the service at Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers were David Higgins, Larry Higgins, Michael Higgins, Junior Hatfield, Richard Hatfield, and David Petre. Honorary pallbearers were members of Women of the Moose.
