Douglas Gale Rummerfield, 82, of Kirksville, MO passed away at his son’s home in Centerton, AR on Thursday Morning, February 14, 2019.
He was born in Kirksville, MO September 6, 1937 the son of Cleetis Gale and Hazel May (Mason) Rummerfield. On July 5, 1975 in Kirksville, MO, Douglas was united in marriage to Vickie Marie Glaspie.
Douglas is survived by his wife Vickie of 43 years; 4 sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Leota Rummerfield of Kirksville, MO, Aaron and Lola Rummerfield of Kirksville, MO, Douglas Ivan and Julie Rummerfield of Jefferson City, MO, and Joshua and Karen Rummerfield of Centerton, AR; one daughter, Melody Foster of Jefferson City, MO; three sisters, Donna Puffinbarger, Doris Smith, and Dorothy Fullmer all of Kirksville, MO; fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law Larry Roger Fox of Kirksville, MO and George Glaspie of Novinger, MO; two sisters-in-law, Diana Robinson of Denton, TX and Delena Sullivan of Jefferson City, MO.
He was preceded in death by; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Rummerfield in infancy and Frances Fox; three brothers, Albert, Doren, and Arzy Rummerfield.
Douglas was a graduate of Brashear High School with the Class of 1955. He worked with several companies until he purchased his own business, Adair Central Cab Company, in 1986. Douglas operated his company until he retired in 2013.
Douglas loved tending to his garden, raising dogs, and following the St. Louis Cardinals. He will always be loved and remembered for never meeting a stranger.
Public visitations will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Reverend Carl Begley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Willmathsville Cemetery in Willmathsville, MO.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Timothy Rummerfield, Robert Stewart, Ian Rummerfield, Cody Rummerfield, Travis Haslag, and Dakota Rummerfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Rummerfield and Jaxon Rummerfield.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Douglas Rummerfield may be made to the Willmathsville Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO
