Catherine L. "Katie" Spangler, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Born July 12, 1935 in Green City, Missouri, Katie was the daughter of the late Winnie Rayburn and Mildred Katherine (Boehringer) Lintner. On November 6, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Katie was united in marriage to Dwayne Spangler who preceded her in death on July 27, 2019 after sixty-three years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Mark Spangler and one brother, David Lintner.

Katie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Sue and Jerry Hill of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Hill of Sedalia, MO, Jeffrey Hill of Olathe, KS, and Katelin (Aaron) Smith of Kansas City, MO; two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Adalyn Smith, as well as three nieces, seven great nieces and nephews, and four great-great nieces and nephews.

Katie was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1953 and attended Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She was employed at the Kirksville Daily a number of years where she met her husband Dwayne. Katie later worked in bookkeeping for a number of doctors in the area including: Dr. Gross, Dr. Gardner, Dr. Gelbach, Dr. Marino, Dr. Barnes, and Dr. Early until retiring in December of 2018. Katie had also worked for Lila Farr in her bookkeeping business.

Katie was a member of DAR and of the First Presbyterian Church of Kirksville where she played the piano for early Sunday services and served as a deacon.

It was Katie's wish to be cremated and a Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, with Chaplain Carrol Davenport officiating.

No public visitation will be held and arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
