Maggie Rachel (Weber) Mudd, 97, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Maggie was born February 17, 1921 the daughter of Henry and Jennie Frances (Summers) Weber, on the family farm at Yarrow, MO. On December 20, 1941 Maggie was united in marriage to Otho Dale Mudd who preceded her in death on February 19, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Kenneth Weber, and her sister-in-law, Emma Weber.

Maggie is survived by one son, Larry (Elaine) Mudd of Yarrow, MO; two grandsons and one granddaughter, Christopher Dale Mudd of Las Vegas, NV, Christina Elaine (David) VanLaningham of Kirksville, MO, and Cory Keith Mudd of Yarrow, MO; one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Nicole VanLaningham of Kirksville, MO; one brother, Gail Weber of Clyde, TX; sister-in-law, Marge Weber of Kirksville, MO; three nephews Ron Weber, Kevin Weber and Mike Mudd; one niece Judy Unash; four great-nephews; three great-great nephews; two great-great nieces, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Maggie received her education in Yarrow rural school eight years, Kirksville Jr. High (9th grade), graduating from Kirksville Senior High School with the Class of 1938. She then attended Kirksville State Teachers College (Truman State) earning a Bachelor's in 1942 and a Masters in 1967.

Maggie taught rural schools at Yarrow, Hazel Creek and Oak Dale. She also taught thirty-two years at Kirksville R-III School, Willard Kindergarten.

Maggie's hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, camping, most other outdoor activities and especially enjoyed visits with her previous kindergarten students. She was a member of the Sherer-Shelton soft-ball team and the Kirksville All-Stars winning two State tournaments. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Maggie was a member of the First Christian Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Saturday September 29, 2018 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with David VanLaningham officiating. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to her son Larry Mudd to be used for the betterment of education, and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
