Burrel Nelson Harris, 94, of Kirksville, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

Born September 29, 1923 in Kirksville, Missouri, Burrel was the son of the late Fred Roy and Opaleen Vivian (Behrbaum) Harris. On December 7, 1947 in Kirksville, MO, Burrel was united in marriage to Hermine "Mimi" Bamble.

Burrel is survived by his wife Mimi of seventy-one years this December; two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Jane Harris of Kirksville, MO, and Michael and Josi Harris of Little Rock, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Jim Schmidt of Monett, MO; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, as well as one nephew and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara McIntosh and one brother, Darrel Harris.

Burrel was a life long resident and farmer of Adair County. He was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1941 and attended two years of college before serving his country in the United States Army, receiving a victory medal, good conduct medal, Army of Occupation medal (Germany), European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbons with 2 Bronze Battle Stars. Burrel also was employed part time forty-five years for the ASCS office in Kirksville.

Burrel built and flew radio controlled airplanes and enjoyed snow skiing, camping and traveling with his wife to many places including Germany where Mimi was from.

Burrel was a member of the First Christian Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018 after 4:00 p.m. and with family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Janice Legg officiating. Music selections will be provided by Audra Jackson Harris and Jenita Davison. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville and his grandsons will be his pallbearers.
