Larry Dee McClanahan, 82, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Born March 29, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri, Larry was the son of the late Lawrence and Imogene (Vaughn) McClanahan. On July 15, 1957 in Novinger, Missouri, Larry was united in marriage to Loretta Mosley.

Larry is survived by his wife Loretta of sixty years; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ferrell McClanahan of Kirksville, MO, and Lane and Kim McClanahan of Fruitland, IA; one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Rick Hatfield of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Noel and Lana McClanahan of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Kari Hatfield, Tanner McClanahan, Sherri (Hatfield) Potter and husband Brent, and Haily McClanahan; three great-grandchildren, Raylee and Bryson Potter, and Swain McClanahan, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1954. He served in the United States Army from February 1959 to October of 1960. After returning home, Larry purchased a milk route and delivered milk to Producers Creamery in Kirksville. On the side Larry thought working on the farm was more of a activity rather then a chore. Larry took pride in farming and with the experience of operating farm equipment Larry noticed that he enjoyed operating heavy equipment. Later he developed a business of bull dozing, which he was operating at the time of his death.

Larry was devoted to his family and loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry was a member of Sabbath Home Church east of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 with family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Darrell Draper will officiate the service and Interment will follow the service at Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Frank Eskra, Wayne Adams, Butch Newman, Larry Kelsey, Lonnie Salter, Monte Fisher and Lindal Arnold. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Leavitt, Dale Watson, Ivan Clarkson, Gary Clarkson, Doug Clarkson, Brent Potter, and Gerald Snelling.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Larry McClanahan may be made to Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
