Dr. Samuel Leroy (Doc) Pfeiffer, 82, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home under the care of Hospice.

The son of the late Dr. Earl and Lorene (Hammonds) Pfeiffer, Doc was born December 23, 1935 in Green City, Missouri, where he was raised. He graduated from Green City High School, and enlisted into the United States Air Force, which he proudly served four years. Upon his discharge, he then followed in his fathers footsteps and enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. After graduating from Palmer, he practiced in Kirksville with his Dad, then built his own clinic and set up his own practice. Doc practiced for over fifty years, making many friends along the way.

Doc loved the St. Louis Cardinals and went to many games and enjoyed listening to them on the Radio. Doc was active in the community and coached many years of Little League baseball at the old Robinson Field.

In 1980, he and Maureen built and owned Leisure World Lanes, which he always loved to go out there and bowl, shoot pool and just visit with "everyone".

Doc is survived by his wife Maureen of the home; his four children, Jeff Pfeiffer (Daphne) of Little Rock, AR, Greg Pfeiffer of Columbia, MO, Eric Pfeiffer of Kirksville, MO, and his daughter Nikole Pfeiffer of Kirksville, MO. He is also survived by grandson, Payne Pfeiffe, granddaughter, Faith Pfeiffer, and his sister-in-law Gerda Pfeiffer.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold Pfeiffer, his beloved granddaughter, Allison Pfeiffer and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday May 11, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with family receiving friends for one hour before service time. Pastor Jim Pitney will officiate the service and interment will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Bill Johnson, Bob Withrow, Mike Williams, Mark Whitney, Mike Besler, and Jason Humphrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Doc Pfeiffer may be made to the Adair County Humane Society and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
