Ronald Gene Callahan Sr., 77, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home.

The son of the late Ralph Grant and Lois Frances (Smith) Callahan, Ronald was born December 3, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1964 Ronald was united in marriage to Treava Champlin and to this union five children were born. In 1983, Ron married Pauline Weekes who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Ralph Callahan and Lois (Callahan) Williams; step father, Ben Williams; and one son-in-law, Jay Fields.

Ronald is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian & Penny Callahan of Kirksville, MO, and Ronnie Callahan Jr. of Sedalia, MO; three daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Cornelius of Portland, OR, Terri and Aaron Yelton of Springfield, MO, and Linda Fields of Florence, S. Carolina; three step sons, Eddie Weekes, of CA, Gary Weekes of OH, and Ricky Weekes of TN; step-sister, Jody Showman and husband George of Prosser, WA; seventeen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Ronald was raised in Lakewood, California and was a graduate from Lakewood Polly High School. While residing in Lakewood, Ronald was employed for J.C. Penney fifteen years until retiring in 2006. He moved to the Kirksville area to make his home in 2007.

Ronald was active as a manager for Little League baseball, enjoyed bowling many years and loved to follow the Los Angeles baseball team.

He was very proud of his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren who will remember their grandpa for always having ice cream for them in his freezer.

It was Ronald's wish to be cremated and a memorial service to honor his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Kirksville, with Pastor Larry Gibson presiding.

Family will receive friends at the Fellowship Baptist Church on Friday for one hour before service time.
