Richard Lyndelle Elvington, 81, of Queen City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Born June 25, 1937 in Lake View, South Carolina, Richard was the son of the late Franklin and Ila (Lane) Elvington. On April 14, 1986 in Sandford, North Carolina, Richard was united in marriage to Faye (Solomon) Atchley.

Richard is survived by his wife, Faye of thirty-two years; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Chad Elvington and Freda of North Carolina, Bobby and Missy Elvington of South Carolina, Ronnie Elvington of Jefferson City, MO, Mark and Joanne Athcley of Webster City, IA, and Brent Atchley of Novinger, MO; seventeen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by one son, Richard Elvington; one sister Toby Stone; one brother, Joe Elvington; and one granddaughter, Samantha Elvington.

Richard graduated from Jenks High School in Florida. He owned managed a restaurant in Texas before serving his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962. Richard worked as a supervisor for a Nuclear Plant in North Carolina until retiring. After moving to Kirksville to make his home he worked several years at PSF in Milan.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Queen City.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Lone Pine Cemetery in Martinstown with Pastor Bob Smith presiding.

Pallbearers will be Mark Atchley, Brent Atchley, Chad Elvington, Bobby Elvington, Ronnie Elvington, and Nathan Athcley. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Watt, Allen Aldridge, and Mac Solomon.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Richard Elvington may be made to the First Baptist Church of Queen City and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
