Ellis Eugene Newcomer, 86, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The son of Oscar and Ethel (Dudgeon) Newcomer, Ellis was born February 12, 1931 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 8, 1953 in Kirksville, Ellis was united in marriage to Patsy Louise Riley who preceded him in death on September 24, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jared Newcomer; two brothers, Niel and Marchall in infancy; one sister Larena Jane in infancy, and a brother-in-law, Bernard Riley.

Ellis is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and Barb Newcomer of Kirksville, MO, Rex and Rebecca Newcomer of Warrenton, MO, and Roger Newcomer of Marshall, MO; six grandchildren, Jason Newcomer, Matt Newcomer, Desiree Rider, Sarah Adams, Riley Newcomer, and Jonathan Newcomer, six great-grandchildren, Olivia Adams, Daxton Rider, Lachlan Rider, Gavin Newcomer, Rowan Newcomer and Liam Newcomer as well as sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Patty Newcomer, Nancy Summers, and Donnie Riley and wife Carolyn.

Ellis was a life long resident of Adair County and graduate from Kirksville High School. He was employed fifty plus years as a security guard for KOH (now Northeast Regional Medical Center) until retiring.

He enjoyed farming and hunting but most of all loved time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Ellis was a member of Church of the Nazarene where he served as usher many years.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene in Kirksville, with Pastor Mike Askew and Pastor Robert Price officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Summers, Joe Summers, David Summers, Leonard Clark, Randy Watson, Jerry Norfolk, and his grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ellis Newcomer may be made to the Church of the Nazarene. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
