Anthony L. Kottwitz

-

Anthony Kottwitz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, with his family by his side.

Anthony was born on July 20, 1957, and raised in St. Clair County, Missouri. He graduated from Osceola High School in May of 1975, and in August of that year, he married Sandy Cone. They started their married life in Warrensburg, Missouri. Anthony earned his bachelor's degree in Ag Business from Central Missouri State University in 1979. They moved back to Osceola, where he worked on the family farm following his father's passing. He entered the Missouri Department of Conservation training class in 1980. He received his commission as a conservation agent in December of 1980. During his almost 30 years with the Department of Conservation, he worked the counties of Bates, St. Clair, and Putnam. After his retirement from the Department of Conservation, he managed Rakestraw Ranch in rural Putnam County, and most recently worked at Phelps Farm Service.

Anthony was a man of faith, and he accepted Christ as his Savior when he was a young man. Although he was never one to preach to you, he showed his faith daily by the way he lived. Anthony was a hard-working, caring man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He went on several mission trips with his kids, worked on various construction projects for friends and family, and enjoyed helping out anyone in need. Anthony was also an avid outdoorsman, and invested many hours teaching his children, grandkids, and friends the finer points of hunting and fishing.

Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandy of 42 years; their children: Bryan (Cari), Andy (Emily), Steven (Clare), Nathan (Jamie), Chris (Courtnee), and Jessie; their grandchildren: Titus, Brantley, Malachi, Amber, Brinkley, Kayleigh, Zeke, Breyson, Ava, Empress, and William; his mother Margaret; his brothers, Jerry and Larry, and his sisters Patsy Meyer, Sharon (Dennis) Raymond, Wanda Kottwitz-Curtis, and Georgina Romans. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, George Kottwitz, nephews Timothy Curtis and Tyler Raymond, and niece Diedre Raymond.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. Visitation will precede the funeral at 1:00 p.m., and interment will be at the Canaday Cemetery in rural Adair County immediately following the funeral service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canaday Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

My condolences to all of Anthony's family. I was an agent working in the same time period and had the privilege to have know him. He will be remembered as a dedicated man of great principals. Hope recollections of his time with you will bring smiles to your faces as it will with others who knew him.
