Max Edward Sweitzer, 74, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. The son of Charles Lewis and Evelyn (Hemping) Sweitzer, he was born March 1, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Sharon Ollman, who survives.

Max is also survived by two sons, Charles Sweitzer and wife, Mandy of Apple Valley, California and William Sweitzer and wife, Melissa of Kirkville; one grandson, Maxwell Sweitzer; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Max served nine years in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He lived most his life in Mexico, MO where he graduated from high school, farmed, and was employed as a truck driver. Max moved to Macon, MO for ten years before coming to Kirksville a year ago. He enjoyed working on all kinds of motors, cars, motorcycles and reading to his grandson.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri, with Harold Engel presiding. Services are under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
