Robert E. "Bob" Brawner, 78, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

Born May 28, 1939 in Greentop, Missouri, Bob was the son of the late Grandison Aljourn and Ada Lois (Norman) Brawner. On December 18, 1958 in Greentop, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Pope.

Bob is survived by his wife Pat Brawner of fifty eight years; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Christina Brawner of Columbia, MO and Dennis and Patty Brawner of Maywood, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Steve Shipp of Franklin, MO; one sister, Lois Ann Wayman of Kirksville, MO; eight grandchildren, Kandice (Adam) Robinson, Kourtney (Scott) Buckallew, Katelyn Brawner, Austin Jones, Anna (Derek) Leach, Jackson Brawner, Ethan Shipp and fiancée Courtney Dunn, and Kyler Shipp; four great-grandchildren, Connor Robinson, Oakley Buckallew, Finley Buckallew and Carli Robinson; sister-in-law, Donna Brawner of Kirksville, MO; many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived and was preceded in death by his wife's family (The Pope's) who were a very huge part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Brawner; granddaughter, Kerigan Shipp, and niece, Vickie Ann Brawner.

Bob was a life long resident of Adair County and received his education in the Hungry Hollow rural school and Kirksville public schools. He was a life long farmer and was employed several years for Keher Brothers Construction Company. In the early 60's with the help of his brother, Jim he joined the milk hauling business and for the next twenty-five years he built and managed several milk routes. Bob served as County Commissioner ten years for Adair County.

Bob will be remembered as being a hard working man who loved spending time with his team of Draft horses and always had time for his grandchildren, whom he adored. He also enjoyed his bowl of vanilla ice cream every evening.

Bob was past president of the Draft Horse Pulling Association, member of Masonic Lodge 105, was a fifty- year member of Moose Lodge 1705 and member of El Kadir Shrine Club. He was a member of the Countryside Christian Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Steve Embree presiding. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Brawner, Connor Robinson, Ethan Shipp, Kyler Shipp, Scott Buckallew and Adam Robinson.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob Brawner may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
