Donald Ellis Perkins, 81, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Lock Haven (Oak View Cottage) in Macon, Missouri.

Donald was born February 4, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of the late Maurice Lester and Virginia Ruth (Lile) Perkins. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee (Perkins) and Bill Hamilton.

Donald is survived by three nephews, Steve Hamilton and wife Toni of Kirksville, MO, Mike Hamilton and wife Shari of Columbia, MO, and Brian Hamilton and wife Monali of Iowa City, IA; one great niece, Amanda Abbott, and two nephews, Scott and Matthew Hamilton.

Donald was a life long resident of Adair County and worked along side his family on the family farm. He also helped work on other area farms. In his later years, Donald walked daily for eleven years to give care to his mother, Virginia Perkins who was a resident of Kirksville Manor Care Center.

He loved country music, especially Carrie Underwood, enjoyed trains, airplanes, and country drives with his family and friends.

Donald affirmed his faith in Christ and it was deeply meaningful to him. He was baptized Christian by Pastor Jim Pitney.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Jim Pitney officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Center Cemetery, east of Kirksville, MO.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2017, for one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
