Delbert L. Truitt went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2017 while at home surrounded with family and under the care of Hospice.

Delbert was the son of Iness Adell (Lutz) and Samuel Leroy Truitt and was born on September 18, 1927 near Youngstown, MO.

In 1945 Delbert joined the United States Army Air Force during WWII serving until 1947. While serving Delbert married Irene G. Krueger of Quincy, Illinois on December 7, 1946 in Quincy. Following his service career, Delbert moved to Quincy, Illinois and worked for Bowers Mfg. Company. In 1948, he moved his family to Kirksville, Missouri. He was employed as a herdsman for Dr. Denslow's farm and showed registered Black Angus cattle at surrounding cattle shows.

As a young man, Delbert worked for Palace Bakery, Mitchell Dairy and Reesmans's Dairy. While working for the Reesman's he sold and delivered ice cream mix to various surrounding towns. In 1960 he and his wife purchased a ranch in western Adair County, where they raised their three daughters.

Delbert is survived by three daughters, Judy Livingston and husband Truman and Marcia Salladay and Bret, and Debra Sayre and David; seven grandchildren Kay (Livingston) Moore and husband Aaron of Maryland, Christine (Livingston) Truitt and husband Eric of Kirksville, MO, Dustin Livingston and wife Sara of Kirksville, MO, Tracy (Salladay) Lathrom and husband Rich of Ozark, MO, Brandon Salladay and wife Amy of Columbia, MO, Charlee (Sayre) Cross and husband Dan of Waukee, IA, and Paul "PJ" Sayre of Chillicothe, MO. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Pam Heaberlin and Paula Cragg; one great niece, Kaylee Cypert; one great nephew Josh Cragg of Independence, MO, and one sister-in-law, Clara Truitt.

He was preceded in death by wife Irene on February 24, 2011, his parents, one brother, Delvin, and aunts and uncles.

Delbert's greatest joy in life was his wife, Irene, three daughters, Judy, Marcia and Debra, and living on their ranch.

Delbert was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 10, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating. Music selections, "Sunrise" and "Daddy's Hands" will be provided by Twila Jones who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable organist. Interment will follow the service at Lutz Cemetery, south of Novinger, MO.

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 for one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tanis Truitt, Drake Truitt, Eric Truitt, Brandon Salladay, Dustin Livingston and Rich Lathrom.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Delbert Truitt may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

I have fond memories of Delbert and Irene as my Grandma Etta Truitt Carnagey, my dad Don Carnagey, and myself traveled to Missouri one summer to visit all our family. Yes we stopped in to see Delbert and Irene. We has such a EXCELLENT times of they was talking about years past with laughter and joy. Delbert was the last of the Truitt family to past away.
