Barbara Jean (Parrish) West, 71, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the University Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Leroy Vincent and Leota Marie (Bozarth) Parrish, she was born June 1, 1945 in Edina, Missouri. On January 25, 1968 Barbara was united in marriage to John Leo West who preceded her in death on October 16, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Howard Eugene Maize and DeAnna Sue Maize; three brothers; and three grandchildren, Randy Kennedy, Randall Salsberry and Brayden Maize.

Barbara is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Garnett and Melody Maize of Kirksville, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Frankie Salsberry, and Theresa and Terry Sharp all of Novinger, MO; one step-daughter, Angie Garst of Hale, MO; one brother, Clinton "Joey" Parrish of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Margie Penn of Kirksville, MO; twelve grandchildren (three whom they raised); thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Barbara was employed several years as a teacher's aid in Chillicothe, Missouri. She resided most of her life in Novinger and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and watching her TV stories. Most of all Barbara loved time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating. Interment will follow the service at Salisbury-Parcels Cemetery, south of Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Nichols, Jared Sharp, Frank Salsberry, Johnny Maize, Terry Sharp, and Frankie Salsberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn McKim, Chris Kennedy, and David Piehl.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Barbara West may be made to the Salisbury-Parcels Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
