Geneva Darlene (Hays) Klingsmith, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

Geneva was born September 4, 1932 in Brashear, Missouri, the daughter of the late George Earnest and Hazel Viola (Wood) Hays. On March 13, 1949 in Brashear, Missouri, Geneva was united in marriage to Bill Morehead who preceded her in death. On March 9, 1973 in Milan, Missouri, Geneva married Phillip "Sonny" Klingsmith who preceded her in death on October 20, 2003.

Geneva was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie and Harold Hays, and one sister, Ruby Hays.

Geneva is survived by two sons, Steve Morehead of Kirksville, MO, and Chris Morehead and (Joanne Wright) of Macon, MO; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Laura Smith and Bob Graham of LaPlata, MO, Melissa and Joe Dimmitt of Kirksville, MO, Vicki and Raymond Rehm of Kirksville, MO, Debby and Mallory Jackson of Greentop, MO, and Kathi and Chuck Braaten of Kirksville, MO; twelve grandchildren, Karina, Brandon, Tim, Eric, Colby, Clinton, Casey, Alek, Josh, Cole, Noah, and Aidan; fourteen great-grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Nathan, Kolton, Kinzie, Tristan, Kolby, Hannah, Taylor, Dani, Journey, Julie, Peyton, Ivan, and Renee; one great great-grandchild, Avery; two sisters-in-law, Delores Hays of Fairfield, IA and Glenda Hays of St. Louis, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Geneva was a graduate from Brashear High School. From 1957 to 1977 she was employed for McGraw Edison Company. She was later employed at KOH and Kirksville Manor Care until going to work at Florsheim Shoe Factory where she was employed until retiring in 1994.

Geneva enjoyed shopping, yard sales, following the Cardinal baseball team and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Union Temple Church in rural Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Phillip Lyon officiating. Music will be provided by Dianthe Cable organist and Twila Jones, soloist. Interment will follow the service at Union Temple Cemetery, southwest of Kirksville.

Family will receive friends for one hour on Friday, March 31, 2017 before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Rehm, Eric Braaten, Tim Braaten, Casey Morehead, Clinton Morehead, and Josh Larison. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
