Annabeth (Newman) Chevalier, 90, formerly of Kirksville (residing in Shawnee, KS) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Annabeth was born in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of the late John and Lois (Cochran) Newman.

Annabeth is survived by her brother, James Newman of Florida; one son, Jon Chevalier (Rhonda) and daughter Deanna Parker (Jeff) all of Shawnee, KS; four grandchildren, Madison Fournier, Zachary Allen, Ashley Parker, and Nicole Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Walter and Lois Newman, and her brothers, Richard Newman, Kenneth Newman, and John Newman.

After graduating high school she completed Business College in Kansas City, MO. In the 50's she attained her pilot's license so she could fly back home to Kirksville. She was fearless and loved life. She later retired from Northeast Missouri State University in after thirty-two years of service and as she would say "never used a sick day". She loved her job, the people she worked with, and the students so continued working until she was in her 70's.

Annabeth was an avid gardener and a member of the Kirksville Garden Club. She was also an accomplished artist and many of her paintings hung in the homes of her friends and family. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and friend.

Public visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m.. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Kirksville.
