Rex L. (Breezy) Whitworth, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

Rex L. (Breezy) Whitworth was born May 8, 1933 the son of OD and Olive (Shipley) Whitworth in Worthington, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Junior and Gurney (Smokey), one sister, Dorothy Partin and husband Layton, sister-in-law, Jean Whitworth, and nephew David Whitworth.

Breezy was married to Alberta Jordan in 1992 and has three step children, Jaci and Larry Sayre, Leighton and Kim Shoop, and Jordan Shoop, one grandson, Josh and Sydney Huck, and one great granddaughter, Celeste Huck. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and lots of family.

Breezy was always in business, John Deere Equipment in Greentop, MO, Whitworth Auto Sales in Kirksville, Interstate Auto Auction in West Quincy until moving to Lakeland, FL in 1994, where he worked for Manheim Auctions and also continued to buy and sell vehicles. He returned to Kirksville in 2014.

Breezy never saw a stranger and had the gift of gab.

He was saved in 1958 and was a member of Winter Haven Christian Church since 1994.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday March 19, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Allen Tipton and Steve Jordan presiding. Entombment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2017, for one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Leighton Shoop, Larry Sayre, Scott Whitworth, Aaron Fowler, Jordan Shoop, Gurden Tague, Colton Whitworth, and Avery Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Young, Ron Weber, Mike Bruner, Richard Hudson, Al Smith, Gale Martz, Bob Cowell, Greg Ratliff, Chris Bohon, Dale Tindall, Don Hudson, Curley Judd, Larry Steigherst, Richard Foglesong, and Gale Stock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, or to Kirksville Manor Care Center. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
