Dora Carmalene Briddle

Dora Carmalene Briddle

-

Carm Briddle was born “Dora Carmalene Forte” on September 28, 1925, making her 92 years old when she passed on December 3, 2017. Her parents were Jim and Bessie Forte’ . Jim immigrated thru Ellis Island from Italy. Bessie was from the Greentop, MO area. (They preceded her in death). She met her husband Glenn Briddle and married him in 1944; they had been married 73 years at the time of her death. Wow!

Carm was a great mother and hard-working woman. She and Glenn raised two sons Garry Briddle & Ricky Briddle, both of Kirksville. They also helped mold and influence a young man named Don Souders who spent many hours in their home.

During World War II while Glenn was in the Army stationed in Panama, Carm assisted in the war effort by working in a factory in Kansas City that built airplanes.
After the war, she worked in Kirksville at the shoe factory for 7 years, then McGraw Edison for 7 more years and at Hollisters for 22 years before she retired in 1987.

Carm was very creative and a good artist but her passion was ceramics. She poured, cleaned, fired and painted ceramics by herself, with her family and with her friends. She became quite the painter and often sold her finished items at various trade shows. Her entire family benefited from her precious ceramic gifts.

When Carm was growing up near Greentop, MO, she and her sister, Neta, (who preceded her in death), played guitar and sang together at various events.

Carm was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren: Brandie of Springfield, MO, Brady of Burnt Ranch, CA, and Brockell of Columbia, MO. She loved them until the day she died and they also loved her back.

She was also pleased to have three great grandchildren: Brendon McDermott of Springfield, Tulianna and Tallulah Briddle of Brunt Ranch, CA.

She will be missed! But our prayer is that our family circle will not be broken. Carm was born in 1925, but she was ‘born again’ at age 34 when she made Jesus her savior and was baptized; so you see, we’re happy for her because she now resides in a better place, no pain, no tears, no sorrow.

Let’s rejoice with Carm and thank God for her love and His grace!
Miss you Mom! See you again when it’s our turn to go. . . . Your Family
