Leona Marie (Ratliff) Darr, 83, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 11, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Born May 20, 1934 in Kirksville, Missouri, Leona was the daughter of the late Wesley Wayne and Leona Belle (Clark) Ratliff. On October 30, 1954 in Kirksville, Missouri, Leona was united in marriage to Glen "Sonny" Darr.

Leona is survived by her husband Sonny of sixty-three years; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Brad and Debbie Darr of Kirksville, MO, Bruce and Robin Darr of Kirksville, MO, and Brent Darr of Columbia, MO; five grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) Darr, Brandon Darr, Samantha Darr, Blake Darr, and Addison Darr; one great-granddaughter, Mia Renee Darr, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donovan Ratliff, daughter-in-law, Katie Darr; two grandchildren, Michelle Darr and Clay Darr, and a special aunt, Gaile Clark.

Leona was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1952. After her marriage, Leona worked at Grim-Smith Hospital until going to work at McGraw Edison Company. She then began working at KOH Hospital, later Northeast Regional Medical Center where she was employed thirty-five years until retiring in 2001.

Leona enjoyed time spent with her herd of miniature donkeys and will be remembered for being an excellent cook making her specialties, noodles, rolls, angel food cake and divinity.

Leona was baptized and was a member of Union Temple Church and at the time of her passing was attending the Pure Air Baptist Church.

Public visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Phillip Lyon officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Brad Darr, Bruce Darr, Brent Darr, Brandon Darr, Kyle Darr, and Blake Darr.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Leona Darr may be made to the Clay Darr Memorial Wrestling Scholarship Fund and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
