Elaine C. McKee, 82, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 8, 2016 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Charles Hutcheson and Opal (Hammond) Calif, Elaine was born April 28, 1933 in rural Sewal, Iowa. On July 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Merval "Sonny" McKee who preceded her in death on July 2, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Elaine is survived by one son, Patrick McKee of Centerville, IA; her longtime companion, Dwight Buress of Kirksville, MO; three sisters, Etta Enright of Sewal, IA, Betty Baird of Finlay, OH and Judy Nichols of Muncie, IN; three grandchildren, Chira McKee of Bellevue, WA, Stephanie Sargent and husband Michael of Bellevue, WA, and Kristi Ritter and husband Ben of Centerville, IA, as well as six great-grandchildren, Sheryl Woolums, Sidney Sargent, Connor Sargent, Abi Sargent, Shelby Ritter and Peyton Ritter.

Elaine was a graduate from Sewal Community School in Sewal, Iowa. After her marriage to Sonny they farmed and Elaine worked at Powersville Locker. In 1981after the death of Sonny, she moved to Kirksville and bought Professional Style Shop. Elaine later worked a short time at Mr. Jims Clothing before going to work for the Kirksville Public School where she worked as an aid on the handicap bus and also in the school cafeteria. After retiring, Elaine helped her longtime companion Dwight at the Farm at Adair.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

No service will be held in Kirksville, and she will be taken to the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour, Iowa for a public visitation and graveside service that will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Donations may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

Arrangements are pending with Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
