David A. Stubbs, 78, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Friday April 8, 2016 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Earl Edward and Eula May (McIntosh) Stubbs, David was born April 14, 1937 in Stover, Missouri. On November 10, 1979 at the Los Angeles Temple in Los Angeles, California, David was united in marriage to Mary Butner.

David is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Gene and Greg; two daughters, Davida and Elizabeth; six grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nancy, and one son, Gordon.

David was a Mechanical Engineer and a Engineering Department Manager. He was involved with the State of the Art Systems thru out his career. He enjoyed his work thru out his career as well as working with his hands around the home. He also enjoyed sports, especially softball and played for many years. David was a very beloved father and husband.

David joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1966 and enjoyed many opportunities to serve in the many teaching positions.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop John Grider officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday for one hour before the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Lee Vorkink, Larry Butner, Gerald Butner, Charlie Chace, Matt Wilson and Tony VanSoest.

Arrangements will be under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
