I knew Jerry Shahan when I was a kid. My grandparents, Gayle and Thelma Platz, lived across the road from his house and the sawmill (later moved down across the highway). I remember that each spring he'd come back with lots of kites (lumber was evidently going to kite-makers), and I and my much younger brothers would get some from him. My grandparents and my dad (Howard Platz) thought highly of Jerry, and I always remembered him because I shared his name. Praying comfort for all, now - Jerry Platz, now living in Berkshire, NY.
