Ruby was born the daughter of Perry and Viola (Evans) Darnell on December 27th, 1930 in Kirksville. Ruby was wedded to the love of her life, Kerrill (Sam) Patterson, on June 17, 1950 and to this union two children were born.

Ruby rejoins her husband Sam, two brothers Virgil Darnell and Henry (Hank) Darnell, and five sisters Myrtle Turner, Lee Darr, Viva Dodsworth, Eithel Parrish, and Gracie Foster.

Ruby attended Kirksville Schools, was a loyal employee at the Florshiem Shoe Factory for 46 years, and a faithful member of The First Church of God.

Ruby is survived by her son, Christopher Scott Patterson of Versailles, MO; one daughter, Lisa Renee (Patterson) Fehr of Kirksville, MO; by her cherished grandchildren Kyle Patterson, Christine Patterson, Jackie Patterson, Shane Fehr, Ryan Fehr, Aric Fehr, David Youngman, Sarah Youngman, Jessie Coin, and 13 great grandchildren.

Ruby was affectionately known as "Grandma" to all who knew her. She will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul whom loved her family more than anything. She enjoyed cooking and watching her family grow. Grandma Ruby's door was always open and all were welcomed with love and a jar of hot tamales wasn't far away. Ruby loved her family dearly, but had a special unbreakable bond with her daughter, Lisa.
