Thelma Mary (Graff) Zimmerman, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016, at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

She was born in Santa Monica, California, November 14, 1931, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Esther (Pierson) Graff. On February 21, 1947, Thelma was united in marriage to Edward Baumgartner and to this union three children were born. In 2003, Thelma married Bob Zimmerman who survives.

Thelma is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry E. and Susan Baumgartner of Versailles, MO, and Jimmy E. and Earlene Baumgartner of Kirksville, MO; five grandchildren, Rodney (Amy) Baumgartner of Kirksville, MO, Angela (Jerry) Nielsen of Monroe, UT, Nicole (Kasey) Koon of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry A. Baumgartner of California, MO, and Kari (Bob) Feller of Linn, MO; sixteen great-grandchildren, Shelbie Jones, Randon and Adison Baumgartner, Alexis Karpowez, Dylan LeCurer, Tayler, Colby, Madelynn, Gabrielle Nielsen, Emalee, Danielle and Andrew Foster and Edward Koon, and Valerie; one great great-granddaughter, Annabelle Jones, and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dave and Alice Graff and Ted Graff all of Fort Morgan, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Baumgartner in 1994; one daughter, Judy Ruth (Baumgartner) Bruner in 1998, twin grandsons, Brian and Darin Bruner; one brother, Paul Graff and one sister, Ruth Wolford.

In 1936, Thelma moved with her parents to Colorado where her father farmed and she received her education. In 1960, she and Edward moved to Novinger, Missouri, and purchased a farm. In 1978 they sold their farm and moved to Kirksville. Thelma was employed for Burroughs and owned and operated Shiloh Shelah Residential Care Home.

Thelma had many hobbies including, sewing, crocheting, genealogy, reading, visiting with friends and writing.

Thelma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved her Heavenly Father for he gave her a great life.

Public visitation will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kirksville, with Bishop John Grider presiding. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Baumgartner, Jerry A. Baumgartner, Bob Feller, Preston Jones, Ronnie Graff, and Larry Graff. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur L. Riley, David Bruner and Gary Zimmerman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Thelma Zimmerman may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
