David Arthur Swanson, 36, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (November 29, 2016) at his home.

David was born May 23, 1980 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dan Arthur and Deborah (Blackwood) Swanson. On March 17, 2016 in Kirksville, Missouri, David was united in marriage to Rachel Mercer who survives.

He is also survived by his father Dan (Jane) Swanson of Wapello, IA; his mother, Deborah Burke of Muscatine, IA; four sons, Talon Burke, Davon, Hayden and Logan West; two daughters, Lily and Anastasia; two brothers, Tom Ross and wife Anna of San Antonio, TX, and Terry Garrison of Muscatine, IA; one sister, Makayla Ross of Reynolds, IL; and his grandparents, George Blackwood of Muscatine, IA, Shirley Lesnet of Sperry, IA, and Virginia (Everett) Adams of Muscatine, IA.

David graduated from Wilton High School in Muscatine, Iowa. He had resided in Kirksville, Missouri, for the past few years and at the time of his death was employed at Kraft Foods. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his cars, riding 4-wheelers, and spending time with his wife, Logan, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (December 4, 2016) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Charles Mercer presiding. Family will receive friends on Sunday from noon until service time.

Pallbearers will be Logan West, Jim Findling, Patrick Robbins, Cliff Jordan, John Anesi, and Birdie Buck.

Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
