Alan Lewis Howes, 57, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (November 2, 2016) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Alfred Howard and Marilyn Virginia (Moore) Howes, he was born March 4, 1959 in Evansville, Indiana. On September 19, 1998 in Hurdland, Missouri Alan was united in marriage to Tracy (Thompson) Minkler.

Alan is survived by his wife Tracy of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Brittany Howes of AR, Koty Hayden of Kirksville, MO and Shane Ryan Howes of Greentop, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenn and Colby Schwieter of Novelty, MO, and Alicia and Steve Lewis Jr. of Pocola, OK; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe Howes of LaBelle, MO, Jeff and Kathy Howes of Florida, and Doug Howes and Steven and Maria Howes both of LaBelle, MO; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Ives of Edina, MO, Marilyn Mihalovich of Kirksville, MO, Mary and Vance Lesseig of New Braunfels, TX, and Cathy Marsch of Herman, MO, as well as eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Earl "Winky" Howes.

Alan resided mostly in Knox and Lewis counties, but lastly in Brashear for the past ten years. Following high school, Alan was a laboror in oil refineries traveling as far as Texas. He went on to work various jobs to keep himself busy while being considered a jack of all trades.

He enjoyed fishing, rolling dice, camping, tinkering under the hood of cars, and was always glad to lend a helping hand. Alan loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday (November 5, 2016) at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, with James Lasher presiding. Family will receive friends on Saturday for one hour before the graveside service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lasher, Travis Thacker, Koty Hayden, Shane Howes, Joe Howes, and Steven Howes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jenn Schwieter. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
