Mary Ann (Noe) Simler, 88, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (October 31, 2016) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Paul Lorenzo and Neta Mae (Scobee) Noe, she was born February 26, 1928 in Novinger, Missouri. On October 17, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri, Mary was united in marriage to Carrell Dean Simler who preceded her in death on October 16, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and ten siblings.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Neta Chandler of Kirksville, MO, one granddaughter, Teresa Harris and husband Craig of Kirksville, MO, two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Sophia Harris, one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and JoAnn Noe of Winslow, AZ, one sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Bill Hughes of Lake Elmo, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a graduate from Novinger High School with the Class of 1946 and went on to attend business school in Nebraska. She then returned home and began working for the family telephone company and was married to Carrell. In 1955 Mary and Carrell purchased a farm south of Novinger and she worked along side of her husband until his death. Mary continued to operating the farm until the time of her death.

Mary enjoyed reading, flowers, going to the beach to collect sea shells, grocery shopping, she was a great cook, and loved collecting recipe books. She had a great love for her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughters and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary attended Novinger Methodist Church in her early years and at the time of her death was a member of Union Temple Church.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (November 3, 2016) with family receiving friends for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Alan Whittom will officiate the service and Interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger.

Pallbearers will be Craig Harris, Abdon Navarro, Donnie Yantis, Mark Simler, Glenn Wehner and Wesley Simler. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Simler, Sonny Darr and J.I. Harris.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary Simler may be made to the Union Temple Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
