Edward Duane "Spike" Daniels, 80, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (October 25, 2016) at Boone Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.

The son of Walter Leland and Nellie Neilson (Truitt) Daniels, he was born October 27, 1935 in Stahl, Missouri. On May 7, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Spike was united in marriage to Margie Linder.

Spike is survived by his wife Margie of sixty-one years; two daughters, Marcia Daniels of Novinger, MO, and Martha Daniels of Hartsburg, MO; and sister Kibbee and husband Perry Joe Broseghini of Novinger, MO.

Spike was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin he grew up with, George Anders.

Spike graduated from Novinger High School with the Class of 1953. Beginning in 1956, Spike served two years in the United State Army stationed in Germany. Since 1958, he lived and farmed in the community of Pure Air. Farming was a way of life for Spike. Spike also worked in concrete and construction many years.

Fishing with friends and hunting quail and wild turkey were favorite hobbies. Hunting dogs were always nearby companions. In recent years, he designed, crafted, and shared furniture and boxes of wood. Spike could see the beauty in any piece of oak or walnut.

Spike attended the Novinger United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 29, 2016) with family receiving friends from noon until service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Raymond Magruder officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Pratt Cemetery, southwest of Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Alan Linder, Rick Roberts, Bob Roberts, David Reardon, Eric Reardon, and Chuck Daniels.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Spike Daniels may be made to Pratt Cemetery or to the Novinger United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I know I haven't been around in many years, but I have very fond memories of "Uncle" Spike. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Angie (Allen) Skipworth
